If you’ve never been to Cafe Strudel on State Street, you are missing out! The food is excellent, the atmosphere is laid back, and because it is across the bridge (pretty much in Cayce), parking is a LOT easier to come by than the Vista. Continue reading
Bri and I recently got back from a work trip to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. I know, I know. Tough job, right? Even better was when we got to go up to walk the meeting space and meet with the event coordinators a couple of weeks prior to our actual trip. Continue reading
A few weeks ago, Columbia had its very own Restaurant Week. This is a glorious week each year during which multiple restaurants in the area select a 3-course limited menu for a great deal. Which means we can go to a nice place like Ristorante Divino for a fraction of what we would normally spend, were we to purchase 3 courses (times 2) a la carte. Continue reading
My husband and I are what you might call “old souls.” While many young professionals are out on a Thursday night hopping from bar to bar, Brian and I often like to head over to California Dreaming and listen to local artist Jim LeBlanc cover songs from Bob Dylan to Simon and Garfunkel, as well as a few of his own originals.

Over the last few years, Columbia has really jumped on the Farm-to-Table trend. And why not, given the local bounty of small farmers, Adluh Flour, local dairy farms, and more? Terra is probably my favorite of these Farm-to-Table establishments. The head chef can truly take his recipes to the next level, making mundane items on a menu into something fantastic. One of my favorite things to do on a weekend morning is to take it easy, cook a fun breakfast that might take too long to make during the week, and relax with a cup of coffee. And this is how most of our weekend mornings typically go, unless we are headed to Soda City or to an earlier church or Sunday School service. But sometimes I’d rather let someone else cook and clean up the mess for me, while I enjoy a mimosa. So recently, Bri and I headed to Yesterday’s Tavern for some southern fried goodness.
